Bone Cancer Prostate

This is the disease in its advanced stages. The cancer has left the prostate gland and spread ( metastasised ) into neighbouring organs. With bone cancer prostate the symptoms of the disease are now more definite than in early stages.

More definitively there is difficulty in urination, sexual intercourse, erectile dysfunction and now there may be the experience of pain. When a patient develops cancer of prostate to this stage, medically it is classed as clinical stage M1b. This is referred to as prostate cancer with bone metastasis as a cancer is always designated with reference to where it originated.

Further signs of this level of advancement, bone cancer prostate will be a direct cause for stiffness and pain in the lower back, hips and thighs. The commencement of treatment is now necessary. At this prostate cancer advanced stage the cancer cells have begun to multiply out of control and to interfere with the health of the bones; besides pain, fractures  and other complications even to other organs are not uncommon. The doctor will probably now put the patient on external prostate cancer radiation therapy and other pain management treatments , including chemotherapy if need be, to ward off further complications caused by the metastasis.

The fact is the growth of this disease is slow and many patients never actually reach this stage of advancement. Before any sudden invasive treatment is commenced, usually a lot of “watchful waiting” has been applied by the doctor through careful testing and monitoring.

The important thing is to be vigilant from the start with any symptoms that may be experienced. With bone cancer prostate medical treatments are now available and it need not be a fatal condition with proper management.
