Prostate Nutrition For Prevention And Management

For men of 45 years and over maintaining the health of the prostate gland is highly advisable, and prostate nutrition is key. This is for preventive reasons, or even if you have been diagnosed with the disease and are undergoing treatment. This means a willingness to choose a lifestyle and diet that lowers your risks, and that should not be difficult to do.

Diets rich in soy, fish, vegetables, herbs, antioxidants and certain minerals are known to reduce the risk of cancer of prostate and in the case of cancer patients, to aid in longevity. Foods high in animal fat such as red meats and high-fat dairy products should be avoided. Also to avoid are fatty foods such as margarine, fried foods and those high in calories.

For prostate nutrition therefore, increase your intake of the following :

  • fresh fish such as salmon, mackerel, tilapia and trout. Avoid all fried fish
  • fresh fruit such as grapes, mango, water melons, and vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, sweet peppers, kale and cabbage.
  • fresh herbs, nuts and seeds such as sesame
  • Vitamin C as found in fresh citrus fruits, berries, mangoes
  • multi-vitamin supplements are good but remember these are just supplements and cannot replace or substitute a wholesome diet
  • other recommended supplements are B complex and folic acid
  • green tea is good as prostate nutrition
  • tomatoes and tomato products including ketchup and tomato paste.

Besides watching your diet, it is important to take care of other aspects of health. Regular exercise is always a winner, remembering that heart disease is a killer even among men with cancer of prostate.  A brisk walk daily is priceless for general good health even of the prostate. Also see your doctor regularly for check-up.

Make that sure you do everything in moderation, that you definitely limit your calorie intake and that there is always variety in your selection of foods. Your keeping good prostate nutrition will help in both the prevention and the management of prostate health.

  1. Hi nice post, i have come across your site once before when searching for something so i was just wondering something. I love your theme, would it happen to be a free one i can download, or is it a custom one you had made? In a few months i may get my own domain, but i don’t know how to setup themes so i don’t mind paying someone to make me a nice one and set it all up. Do you know any good WordPress designer companies, thanks for your help. :)
