Symptoms of Prostate Cancer – What Are They?
by Marisa Burn
This disease is full of paradoxes. The first is that in its early stages the symptoms of prostate cancer are virtually non-existent and are not easily detected. And yet early detection is critical for the successful treatment of this cancer.
Urinary problems are usually the earliest signs. These could however be misleading as the symptoms for both benign ( non-cancerous) and malignant ( cancerous) tumors are the same.
Benign tumors are easy to treat if they are the cause for the urinary difficulties. The doctor will do this in order to verify the case for malignant cells.
Symptoms of prostate cancer are:
– Frequency of urination especially at night
– leaking of urine and difficulty in starting urination
– pain or even a burning sensation in urination
– weakened flow of urine
– blood in the urine
– impotence
– pain when ejaculating
– discomfort in the pelvis and swelling in the legs
– lower back pain with stiffness
– weight loss
The doctor will give an accurate diagnosis of the patient’s exact condition after appropriate and thorough testing.
Go and get tested once you notice symptoms of prostate cancer, it will allow for early treatment and arrest the spread of the disease.
